Sean Miller Tip-off Taste : The Sean Miller Tip-off Taste, held at the Sheraton Crown Plaza in Phoenix and hosted by Sean McCabe, gave fans the opportunity to meet the 2009-2010 Men’s Basketball team, coaching staff and head coach Sean Miller while sampling some of the Valley's best food and wine. Ticket sales and the event's silent auction benefited U of A scholarship funds.

2010 Arizona Black Expo : The 2010 Arizona Black Expo took place on Saturday, January 9th at U.S. Airways Arena in downtown Phoenix and showcased small businesses as well as public and private community organizations in the valley. This year's theme, "Reaching a New Generation," also featured local youth including steppers, musicians and spoken word performers.

Taste for the Cure : Taste for the Cure, sponsored by the University of Arizona Black Alumni Association of Maricopa County, and Neutral Zones of America (nzofa.org) was held at Su Vino Winery in Scottsdale (suvinowinery.com) on Saturday, November 14th. The event aimed to bring awareness to the prevalance of the disease among black and hispanic women, and honored breast cancer survivors Glynis Legrand (owner of the Urban Tea Loft), Rochelle Jones, and 20-year survivor Delia Fuentes Acuna. Taste for the Cure was emceed by 3TV's Brittney Shipp. Please feel free to add comments to photos.

Paint by Numbers Interactive Artshow : On December 5th, 2009 two local African-American artists Erica Rosette and Andre Hollingsworth hosted the largest local "paint by numbers" social event at Devil's Martini in Old Town Scottsdale. Participants were invited to choose a numbered paint can and contribute to an outlined mural drawn by the artists. Erica and Andre hope to continue holding such events in an effort to make art more accessible and social for the public.

Healthy Lifestyle Fair : The Healthy Lifestyle Fair provided the community with an opportunity to learn more about health issues and health resources available to the public. Attendees were offered free health screening for cholesterol, blood sugar, and blood pressure, and free kid's dental screenings as well as "mini physicals" provided by United Blood Services. A Q&A session on the topic of pregnancy planning was provided by the OB/GYN department of St. Joseph’s Hospital, American Family Chiropractic offered free spinal evaluations and the chef of Café Eden (located on the Pilgrim Rest campus) hosted a free healthy cooking demonstration. Attendees also had an opportunity to win raffle prices including Phoenix Suns tickets.
